Cape Fish enters new waters

Our regulars at Cape Fish know that we’re passionate about offering you the best quality seafood at affordable prices. We also like to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to trends in the industry, which is why we’re excited to launch our new online shop in the next month. It will allow even more people to access our delicious seafood, fish and other products wherever they are, however they’re responding to the pandemic. It’s our mission to help you cook nutritious meals full of flavour, and making it easier than ever for you to shop with us is another step in that direction.

We also have a couple of new products in the pipeline – including a Paella box for R450 which feeds 4 to 6 people. It comes with Paella rice, a cuttlefish ink sachet, 900 grams frozen mussels, 500 grams frozen calamari and 700 grams Argentinian prawns. What could be better for a Sunday lunch?

And for parents who are doing their best to multitask day in and day out, our Hake Florentine cooked, frozen and ready to heat will be your new best friend. For R195 you can feed a family of 4 with ssucculent hake on a bed of spinach, topped with a rich creamy cheese sauce.

Though a full online shop is unchartered territory for us, we have recently dipped our toes in to test the waters. Over the Easter weekend, our marketing agency Yellow Door Collective built us an online form so that we could start taking orders the very next week. This was developed in response to lockdown and was a really encouraging trial run for our new full online shop. We have been excited to connect with new and existing customers in this way, helping keep braais burning and wholesome seafood meals on the table. The positive feedback we received to this new branch of Cape Fish was encouragement enough for us to consider a more significant online offering.

There’s no denying that lockdown has changed consumer shopping habits. They say that it takes repetition to make or break a habit, and we all had plenty of practice at shopping less frequently in person and ordering more online where possible. Although South Africa is behind the curve in terms of eCommerce, this shift towards online shopping has represented a significant increase in the last quarter. We think that new habit is here to stay and want to remain accessible to those who value quality products and excellent service. That’s where our online shop comes in.

We’re using WooCommerce for our online store, which means that it will offer secure payments, and also a responsive user experience whatever you view it on. Whether you’re ordering a Yellowfin Tuna Saku Block for sashimi from your phone, or some smoked salmon for weekend brunch on your laptop, all of our products will be easy to view and ready for your order.

Though seafood might not be your first thought when considering some online retail therapy, we hope you’ll give us a try and add some fish to your basket along with those new candles or slippers! Keep an eye on our Instagram for our recommended products and also some recipe ideas, then get your order in. Our team also remain available to help in store, where we continue to follow all recommended guidelines. Whatever the stage of lockdown, spending time in the kitchen can be a joy and eating delicious meals is always to be encouraged! So keep an eye out for the launch of our new online shop, fill that basket in a few clicks, and let us deliver all you’ll need.
